Not to YOU, maybe, but it was to the Glamour panel that decided an Ivy League graduate's story about living with her mother in a green Volvo station wagon was first-prize material in their "Tell Us the Story of Your Life!" contest. I had submitted my own attempt at an autobiography back in April and was one of over 8,000 women who submitted, according to the magazine.
When I saw the story, I was bummed. I was really proud of my piece, thought it was one that women could relate to on a number of different levels. I guess pre-teen bulimia isn't as interesting as having to brush your teeth in a Starbucks bathroom every day. Maybe she was throwing up, too.
