So, 21 days down, another 17 to go (including weekends). It's like reliving the final days of my senior year in college all over again.
Let me just say that it is NOT a good idea to give your employer six weeks' notice. The day after you've announced your resignation, you will have already started to plan the layout scheme for your new pad, debated about which breed of dog you'd like to own, mapped out possible new-city activities, and deliberated on how to get your scared-of-cars mother to come along for the three-and-a-half hour trip from Chicago to Indianapolis on moving day. You will not be concerned with writing hometown news releases or blurbs for the spiritual offerings page. You just won't. Wish somebody had warned me.
Anyway ... after my now infamous dresscapade, I ventured back to the mall last night to return the dress I bought and buy a girdle-type shaper thingy to wear with an old dress I feel more comfortable in. (Floor-length's just not my bag, baby!) But the $125 I saved by returning the dress justified spending $140 on the shaper and new bras and underwear for good measure. At least I learned my caboose is one size smaller in underwear than I thought. Happy days!
I have a feeling my posts will ultimately amount to hamster poop until May 13th, at which time I will have said good-bye to my co-workers and signed my apartment lease and begun living my Fabulous New Life. Maybe these will be good times to crank out some stellar lists. Suggestions?
Still, it was a nice gesture on your part. The newspaper will be lucky to get two weeks out of me when I find another job.
